The VAFAUA is the association for umpires within the Victorian Amateur Football Association competition. Based in our rooms at Elsternwick Park, we work to create a safe and fun environment for all members, to progress the interests of umpires in general, and to promote umpiring as a key part of the football landscape.
The Umpires Association also promotes good citizenship, with umpires from diverse backgrounds and covering all ages. We particularly welcome our increase in female members, with representation right throughout the grades and umpiring disciplines. We seek to give back to the community, with umpires volunteering their time to officiate FIDA and National Inclusion Carnival matches, and participating in an annual blood drive. The VAFAUA is a GoodSports club, and is a signatory to the Responsible Gambling Foundation 'Love the game' charter.
With strong support from the VAFA community, a great team of coaches and a culture dedicated to helping every individual to become the best they can be, the VAFAUA truly is 'The Place to Umpire'.
Vale - Colin Wills
The VAFAUA is saddened to learn of the passing of Colin Wills a few days ago at the age of 76. Colin officiated approximately 250 matches with the VAFA, including 3 A section Grand Finals. He also continued his association with the VAFA after his umpiring career, serving on the tribunal for 29 years.
Colin is a Life Member of the VAFAUA, and served as President in 1979.
Colin's funeral will be held at Springvale Crematorium on Monday 11 December at 11am. Our thoughts are with the Wills family at this sad time.
