The Victorian Amateur Football Association Umpires Association (VAFAUA) is the association representing umpires in the Victorian Amateur Football Association competition.
The UA was first established in 1926, and was known as the Metropolitan Amateur Football Association Umpires Association (MAFAUA).
Season 1933 commenced with a change of name from the MAFAUA to the VAFAUA following the competition name change to align with the amateur competitions in other states.
The VAFAUA was incorporated under the Associations Incorporations Act 1981 on the 3rd September 1987, with the Objectives and Philosophies:
– To foster good fellowship amongst members
– To protect and safeguard the interests of members
– To encourage and promote umpiring as an integral part of the game of Australian Rules Football
– To work with the VAFA to ensure an efficient Amateur Football Association
– To do all such things and acts which the members feel is conducive to the best interests of the Association
The VAFAUA is an inclusive organisation, with men, women, boys and girls of all ages (currently from 13 to 83!), and is strengthened by having umpires from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds. If you, or your child, are considering umpiring as a career or hobby, the VAFA/VAFAUA is a safe and family oriented place to umpire. Please visit our ‘Join Us!‘ page for more information!
